Professor David C. Driskell, an avid gardener, often depicted trees. Selected from the David C. Driskell Center collection is a group of 31 drawings, prints, and paintings of trees, created by Driskell over the years; many of which he created in Maine or while traveling in Europe during the 1960s. The works were selected by Dorit Yaron, the David C. Driskell Center's Deputy Director, in honor and memory of David C. Driskell who passed away on April 1, 2020. The photograph of David C. Driskell sketches under a pine tree was taken by Yaron during a trip to Delphi, Greece, June 2013 while both attended an international conference.
