David C. Driskell at the University House

The "David C. Driskell at the University House" exhibition features 28 works, most of them by David C. Driskell. Additional artists include Ronald Beverly, Tarrence Corbin, Robin Holder, Richard Mayhew, Tom Miller, Preston Sampson, and Theresa Ramey. In addition to the images of works in this exhibition, we also included a few installation shots (except for works installed in the private living areas), so viewers are able to appreciate the works in their selected locations in the University House.

The works were selected to represent Driskell's themes of women, nature, and African motifs and to highlight a few other artists whose works are in the collection of the David C. Driskell Center. However, this is not your typical exhibition. The University House functions as a residence for President Pines and his family, for hosting meetings and events, and daily use by the President's staff. As such, the selected works were placed strategically to emphasize the house's beauty and functionality while remaining protected from damage by visitors and the environment.

The exhibition is organized as a tour of the University House as if the viewers are walking inside from the main doors and into the main living room, corridors, dining room, the great room, the upstairs room, and finally the private living and dining areas.
